ABOUT CMC GOLF CLUBS

Welcome to our cyber-space store. In our golf store, we feature very affordable game improvement custom-assembled clubs made with the TOP-RATED shafts from Aldila, Fujikura, Grafalloy, Harrison, Innovative, Leyland, Royal Precision, True Temper, and UST.  Because the shaft is the club's engine, your clubs should have the best shaft you can afford. Don't settle for just any shaft. We use only the best heads from Dynacraft, Golfworks, Golfsmith, Integra, Leyland, Nickent Golf, Trident, and Tom Wishon Technologies.

We are a family-owned & operated store.  My wife and I are retired teachers, avid golfers, and proud grandparents.  I am a professionally-trained clubmaker and a member of  the Golf Clubmakers Association.   Our primary goal is to build you quality golf clubs, at a fair price, that will improve your game.  Every custom club we assemble is carefully swing weight matched to the customer's request or to the accepted standard for juniors, men, or women golfers.  In addition, the shafts used to build a custom set of irons or woods are frequency matched so the irons and/or woods will play more consistently.  An optional feature (for an additional $5 per club) we offer is aligning the shafts to achieve the best Plane of Oscillation.  This alignment is often referred to as the Spine Alignment of the shaft. This alignment is more important for graphite shafts than steel as most graphite shafts have a definite spine which effects the way the shaft oscillates through the swing.

     ABOUT QUALITY and PRICING

Most "off-the-rack" brand-name clubs are mass produced without concern for swing weighting or frequency matching.  When clubs are properly swing weighted to the golfers athletic ability and physical condition, the clubs will feel better--not too heavy and not too light.  In addition, each club in the set will feel and swing the same.   A mass-produced set of 8 irons takes big name companies approximately 20 minutes labor time (not counting the time for the epoxy to set).  Our labor time to make an 8 iron set is about 100 min. due to the extra time to frequency match the shafts and adjust the swing weight of each club.

As you know, most brand-name clubs are very high priced.  Advertising costs and several markups in the distribution chain contribute more than 75% of their retail price. Their high price is not due to better quality.  The components we use are selected for their quality and playability.  Most of the iron and wood heads used by golfers everywhere, including the big name OEM clubs, are made in China.  Labor costs have dictated this.  Also, the foundries that make the high-priced OEM club heads also make most of the heads we use in our clubs.   Certainly there are quality differences in club heads just as there are quality differences in most every product made.  In addition, there are differences in forging and casting processes used to make the heads.  We have spent a great deal of time selecting the best quality heads for our custom clubs. We want your clubs to improve your game as well as give you many years of enjoyment at a very reasonable price.

In addition, we price our clubs fairly.  You can probably find the "same club" at another website store priced lower.  But remember there are many important steps to making a quality custom club. In addition, there are large variations in quality and prices of shafts.  For instance, a standard grade True Temper steel iron shaft costs about $2 as compared to $8 for the TT Dynamic Gold shaft.  So be careful.  We do not just "cut and glue" the components together.  Unlike the pricing of name brand clubs, we do not mark up our clubs 100%-300% over their cost!  Typically our markup is about 25% of material and labor costs on a set of irons or woods with standard shafts.   This means our gross profit, based on the listed price of the club, is less than 20%.  So, if we have a set of irons selling for $250, our profit is less than $50.  Also, our price for any optional shaft or grip is just our cost for the shaft or grip.   This allows you to upgrade your custom clubs for a very reasonable additional cost.

If you have any questions about the clubs we build, please call us at 970-209-6502 or email us at gbnash@montrose.net .  We take a great deal of pride in the clubs we assemble.  Your satisfaction is our main goal.  Our best advertising comes from our many satisfied customers.   More than 2/3 of our business is from reorders and customer referrals.
